Toyota-Highlander Hybrid

Toyota's new engine will have a 187 horsepower rating and 186 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine will enable the Highlander to be EPA-rated as an Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (ULEVII) and run on regular unleaded.

The Limited and Base Hybrid models comes with all-wheel drive that utilize a 3.3-liter V6 engine matched to an electric motor to give 270 hp. Similar to the other hybrid models of Toyota, the 2010 Toyota Highlander uses all power sources, based on driving loads, and needs additional charging. The hybrid models are using a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). The EV mode of Hybrid permits the driver to keep Highlander only in electric drive mode to a small distance. An Econ mode that can be selected by driver to control throttle inputs to get best fuel economy. The limited towing power of hybrid models is around 3500 lbs whereas standard V6 models can tow up to 5000 lbs easily.
