Starting on the outside, the Z06 Carbon will sport, you guessed it, carbon-fiber. The hood will be raised and made of carbon-fiber as too will the splitter and rocker panels. The limited edition Z06 will also get the same Brembo carbon-ceramic brake pads that the ZR1 sports only the brake calipers will be painted gray instead of blue like the ZR1. Also added to the outside of the Z06 Carbon are Michelin Pilot PS2 tires that will be mounted on special black 20-spoke wheels (19s up front and 20s in the rear).

GM has had a lot of recent success when selling its first runs at Barrett Jackson and in 2009 the first Corvette ZR1 went for a mere $1 million. GM also sold the first retail 2010 Camaro with the auction house for $350,000. With numbers like that you just know that the first Corvette Carbon is bound to bring in the bids.

The suggestion is that the 2011 Z06 Carbon Edition is a good indication of what is achievable with the Corvette. Also the promise of a more compact Corvette means improved aerodynamics, aiding fuel economy, performance and top speed.

The market for restored Chevrolet Corvettes is powerful with the invention of internet auction sites, buying and selling these classic beauty's has become safe, easy and convenient. You can find restored original condition better than when they were new. Another class out there is restored using the latest technologies like disk brakes and modern power options and air conditioning. Many get attached and will not ever let them go.

So a C7 Chevy Corvette with a 5.5-liter V-8 with outputs the same as the current LS3 (6.2-liter) is highly likely. Along with the V8 engine improvements it is expected that the Chevy Corvette's performance will be further enhanced with weight reducing composites, magnesium and aluminum. There are suggestions of a vehicle weight of around 3000 lbs.

Growing up in the U.S., just about every child (girl or boy) dreams of having a beautiful, hot car but when we reach driving age, practicality usually sets in because the most important thing, overall, is to get in or on a vehicle and drive. Getting into a car and driving ourselves, and our friends, around town symbolizes our independence. Oh, we will continue to dream about that beautiful Callaway Corvette but the money could be used to move out on our own and independent of our parents. Since the car would not gain us any more independence, this can't be the issue.

If you're going to buy a used Corvette, and you're serious about buying one that you found, get the car inspected by a competent mechanic with knowledge of Chevy Corvettes. Don't take the car to a mechanic that only sees Japanese or European cars as they won't know what is common to look for in a Corvette. Also make sure the mechanic is comfortable with the year of the used car too. I know one mechanic that won't touch a 1977 Corvette but will work on the newer models.

We're Goin' Surfin': Rental Corvette Abandoned in Pacific Ocean [With Videos]

Some presumably drunk people out California way decided to have a little bit too much fun in their recently-rented Corvette and ended up parked in salt water halfway up the car's doors. Thankfully in this day and age everyone has some sort of video recording device within arm's reach, so we have some post-parking-surfing videos below.

The story goes something like this: between two and four people - who may or may not have been racing - decided to roll on down to the end of Law Street (seriously) and take the normally pavement-pounding Corvette out to play in the sand. Once actually on the beach, the driver proceeded to do a few donuts, calmly drive the car into the water, and flee the scene.

The report indicates that some people who were involved have been detained, and that at least some of the expenses involved in pulling the car out of the sand could be recouped. All I can say for certain is that puling a car out of wet sand and water must have been hard as hell due to the suction; I learned that lesson when my friend took his Grand Marquis four-wheeling and the night ended...let's say poorly.

Next up on our motor show calendar is the biggest tuning event of 2010, the SEMA gathering in Las Vegas, and like every year, GM will be there with a huge display of vehicles. This time, the General is video-teasing some of the Chevrolet models that will descend on the Las Vegas convention center next month including several Corvettes, Silverados and you guessed it, a boat-load of Camaro builds. Ugly Corvettes or Art Cars in Disguise?

Ugly Corvettes or Art Cars in Disguise that is the question I have for you today. Over at Jalopnik
this Dragon Corvette is considered ugly but here its an art car in "process". Even though it was voted "single worst custom Corvette in history" it will find save haven here with the rest of us who took perfectly good cars and added "personal" touches. While I was out an about I found a few more corvettes that needed to come out of the rain.
