2011 Fiat Freemont

Fiat has releases photos and details for the 2011 Fiat Freemont, which will debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

The Fiat Freemont measures 489 cm in length, 188 cm in width and 172 cm in height and has a 289 cm wheelbase. The Fiat Freemont promises plenty of interior space, thanks to its seven seat capacity and 90 degree opening doors.

Most of Journey's exterior design has been kept,  except for the front bumper which has been redesigned, and received new fog lights. The Fiat Freemont has also received new alloys and under the bonnet the 7-seater will be fitted with either a 140 HP or a 170 HP 2.0 MultiJet engine which will send power to the front wheels.

Two different trim levels will be offered, each with seven seats as standard. Triple-zone air con, keyless entry, cruise, a tyre pressure monitoring system, fog lights and a touchscreen radio are all standard, while the top-spec model adds bigger wheels, a bigger touchscreen, a DVD player, Bluetooth, rear parking sensors and auto headlights.

Press Release

Fiat Freemont, international debut

The next Geneva motor show will host the debut of the new Fiat Freemont, which will go on sale in the second half of 2011.

The Freemont built on the base of the Dodge Journey, is the first Fiat vehicle to come out of the partnership with the Chrysler Group. It will be produced in the Mexican plant of Toluca, where the 500 is produced for the US market.

The very name conjures up a sense of freedom, the pleasure of life in the open air, of adventure and the possibility of facing any situation that arises in daily life with equanimity.

The Fiat Freemont is in fact a 'factotum vehicle' designed to meet the diverse needs of families and those seeking a spacious, comfortable and versatile vehicle to cater for the frenetic pace of everyday life or weekend leisure time.

The vehicle combines flexibility and practicality with its own distinctive and original style. The dimensions (length of 489 cm, width of 188 cm and height of 172 cm) guarantee outstanding interior roominess, aided by the best wheelbase in its category (289 cm).

The Fiat Freemont guarantees maximum roominess, comfort and versatility due to its 7 standard seats with a genuine third row of roomy seats that is easily accessible because the doors open to 90°. The seats of the third row may be folded down with one simple movement to disappear completely below the floor and create a regular load platform. The seats of the second row are fitted higher than those at the front while the third row is raised in relation to the second allowing all occupants maximum visibility.

The second row can also be fitted with the innovative child booster system: booster seats are used to make sure that children on board are sitting correctly, optimising the seatbelt geometry and guaranteeing greater protection, practicality and comfort.

On-board comfort is also assured by a high driving position, new roomy and ergonomic seats, a host of storage compartments, a generous luggage area with two compartments and a flat load platform for an overall capacity of up to 1461 litres.

The vehicle's very individual design includes muscular, decisive lines that are expressed in a front end with brand new bumpers and grille. The rear end has been redesigned with the adoption of a new bumper and LED tail lights.

The all-new passenger compartment features an up-to-date design and soft touch materials. Features include a wrap-around dashboard with chrome elements, a brand-new instrument panel, a strikingly good-looking central console and an innovative infotainment system with a large colour touchscreen.

To simplify the selection and purchase process, only two outfits will be provided that are aimed at different customer types. The equipment level for both outfits is extremely comprehensive and all the main content items comply with the 'Fiat fair price' strategy.

Both outfits will offer 7 seats, triple-zone automatic climate control system, keyless entry system, cruise control, advanced trip computer, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), fog lights and touchscreen radio with colour screen and controls on the steering wheel. The more metropolitan version will include 17" alloys, touchscreen radio with 8.4" screen, SD card and DVD reader, Bluetooth system, rear parking sensors, fold-down door mirrors, automatic headlight activation, darkened rear windows and roof bars.

The Freemont will have front wheel drive with turbo diesel power units (140 HP or 170 HP 2.0 MultiJet) combined with a manual gearbox. Later, the vehicle will also be available in 4x4 versions with 170 HP 2.0 MultiJet and 276 HP 3.6 petrol V6 engines, both with automatic transmissions. With the exception of the powerful 3.6 litre unit from the Chrysler Group Pentastar family and its automatic transmission, all power units are produced and developed by FPT- Fiat PowerTrain.
The vehicle's dynamic performances have also been improved with the aid of Fiat engineering, which has developed and introduced a special suspension and steering configuration for greater accuracy and directness. Driving comfort is further guaranteed by significant improvements to passenger compartment soundproofing.

Safety is top level with 7 airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with Brake Assist, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with Hill-Holder and electronic roll mitigation (ERM) as standard on all vehicles.

Dodge Ram Outdoorsman

The Ram's exhaust is a more simple and less complicated than that of its competitors. This allows the vehicle to be priced lower and be more dependable. If you insist on the V8 engine, keep in mind that it offers more hp at 383 HP but torque is decreased at only 400 pound feet.

2011 Dodge Ram Outdoorsman Rear Angle ViewThe best thing is that you can configure the cab and bed choices to build the truck of your dreams; everything can be customized to your looking. Either choose a standard cab with a bench seat, the extended cab, or a four door version called the crew cab. Bed choices come in standard or extended bed lengths.

The body and exterior Design Of 2011 Dodge Ram Outdoorsman

The problem with many models of these brands made today mean that they come stock with Halogen Dodge Ram Headlights. From 1981 all the way to 2010 and up, there are a myriad of differing lighting options available to you. The early favorites have been for many years a Ram projector headlight setup. Instead of the wavy light pattern that come stock, a projector beam focuses and directs the light exactly where it is needed. As with clipping a hose slightly, you spread the wave, however when focused out as a stream, it is much more powerful and effective. This headlight technology is also the best method of controlling a High Intensity Discharge (HID) Lamp. With the excessive brightness that these emit, it can be dangerous and ineffective to not focus the beam directly but rather to point it exactly where it needs to be for maximum vision and safety.

The body and exterior remains the same as the older models, however handling and performance is at an all-time high. You can't even tell that it's a Diesel truck since the cabin is extremely quiet and very well insulated from outside noise. There are multiple trim levels that can be customized with your choice of cab and bed configurations.

The 2011 Journey model is expected to be offered in three different trim levels

Inside the Dodge Journey was a bit more of a surprise. The interior was positively European in its attention to detail. The functional dashboard and elevated driving position make the Dodge Journey a positively pleasurable place to find yourself.

The 2011 New Dodge Journey from US

I kept these pre-ordained opinions firmly in mind right up until I was confronted with the Dodge Journey in reality. My suspicions were correct; it was large...very large. A more redeeming feature were the sportier curves, which I assumed had permeated the design blueprints of every car manufacturer except those based across the Atlantic. Despite hating the appearance of most 4X4s, I found myself warming slightly to the Journey's cumbersome bulk.

Dented Wallets and Square Wheels: The 10 Worst Cars of 2010

In the age of high gas prices, hybrids and everyone supposedly going green like the government would make you think, the 2010 class of cars, SUV's and trucks took another hit this year with depreciation and upkeep costs. Just about all the top companies took a good hit in both categories of big and roomy and the supposedly fuel-efficient compact variety which is not as a big hit to people as many would tell you. Here's a listing of the worst performers of 2010 and vehicles you should avoid. These are not in any specific order. (contributed by Design 911)

Cadillac Escalade - Type: Luxury SUV

2010-Cadillac-Escalade-Hybrid-008.jpg

It's hard to say really what tipped the "experts" off on this vehicle. It did rank poorly amongst safety and value but the one statistic that really stuck out was this vehicle got top honours for the most stolen vehicle out of everything that's out there. "Pimp My Ride" apparently does not apply here.

Chevrolet Aveo - Type: Compact

Chevrolet-Aveo-front.jpg

The Chevrolet Aveo5 1LT overall value is at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to even more expensive models such as the Volkswagen Golf and Honda Civic. Consumer Reports concludes that "the ride is jittery and noise is constant." . What would you expect from driving something as small as a golf cart?

Chevrolet Colorado - Type: Pickup Truck

Chevrolet_Colorado_pics.jpg
This vehicle has been rated poorly in just about in every aspect so I'm not going to waste my time telling you about it because what does matter is the fact that GM is soon doing away with this model as well as the Canyon. So, of course the best medicine would be to stay away from these models.

Dodge Nitro - Type: SUV

Dodge-Nitro-SUV.jpg

The SLT model is just another version of the Jeep Liberty but with lower marks. Consumers complained
how noisy this SUV is and how it lacks agility. There tended to be some sort of body lean which added difficulty for people steering. This would be the equivalent of pushing a baby stroller in gravel.

Ford F-250 - Type: Truck

f250-ford-truck.jpg

The 2010 Ford F-250 Lariat was ranked the worst on gas mileage getting on average just 10 mpg. This was a diesel engine model as well. Hate to see how an unleaded version would do. At this bad a rate of miles per gallon, one would think you'd have to get a bank loan just to get back and forth to work every three months.

Jeep Wrangler - Type: SUV

jeep-wranglers.png

The Unlimited Sahara was the main gripe but Jeep Wrangler overall has plummeted 23% in sales since the beginning of the year. Apparently it does well off-road but fell short when driven on-road. Handling is a challenge with vague steering and low cornering limits. It's reliability was another negative for consumers.

Chrysler Sebring - Type: Midsize

CHRYSLER_SEBRING.jpg

Car experts ridicule this unpopular gem for its cheap interior and poor performance. It is considered the worst midsize car for the money due to the high ownership costs. Its rate of depreciation is almost faster than watching paint dry.

Mercury Mountaineer - Type: SUV

Mercury_Mountaineer.JPG

Top honours for worst midsize SUV for the money, the Mountaineer (and its twin, Ford Explorer, which ranked right behind it) is truck-based. So therefore it makes it use more fuel than the competition and not something suited for city and suburban driving. If you live in this type area, the handling may cause a vein to pop out of your forehead as well.See another worst car 2010 here.

The 2010 Dodge Caliber's performance

This new vehicle from the Dodge brand is targeting the market that holds the 20-somethings who are also first time new car buyers. Their statistics show that mostly these consumers are those who have a median income of around $45,000. Although, of course, anybody who wants a Dodge Caliber can buy a Dodge Caliber.

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkfDQVwghlQnnHr8iDThEp2-NJEAtyxUDLCRVrHq7Dr0hTB5WgYob-fxFzG-xFBEI6YE3_5v-vfYc8xt5mn4eywP-12q2u4T3J-62Sfi9jMG2l72NMVzIJdLOx2U-lzS72NEWg_ArkDRtZ/s1600/2010-Dodge-Caliber-Test-Driver-588x441.jpg

The Dodge Caliber has comfortable seating and an expansive cargo area for a small car -- benefits that should earn it a place on any hatchback shopper's list, and could even lure in buyers from compact wagons. The Caliber even has aggressive, macho styling borrowed from Dodge's trucks and SUVs that make it stand out in its class. Despite those high points, the Caliber disappoints reviewers with lackluster performance and an interior that doesn't keep pace with competitors, even with upgrades for 2010.

The Dodge Caliber tries to be the quintessential hot hatch, but underpowered engines, sloppy handing and subpar interior materials keep it from hitting the mark.

The new 2010 Dodge Caliber has been set so as to be the very first car from Chrysler to offer a continuously variable transmission or CVT. This new vehicle will also hold the new World Engine family that has gasoline engines with four cylinders. Along with that, enter the 2007 Dodge Caliber with a new electronic all wheel drive system plus another new part - a 2.0 liter diesel engine. More power has been made to this vehicle, it seems.

Dodge Challenger SMS Supercars

If your Florida Jeep or Challenger is regularly driven in stop and go traffic, it'll require more frequent maintenance. Depending on where you live, this could affect your maintenance schedule. The same is true if you keep your engine idling. If the majority of your car trips are short, i.e. you're driving to the supermarket and home again, your vehicle will need to be serviced at a more regular interval. This is true if the majority of your car trips are less then 10 miles to your destination both ways.

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_FoXyvaPSnVk/SOelvKiTvqI/AAAAAAAA9eQ/aJbkxpzImW4/s1600/SMS-Dodge-Challenger-3.jpg

Under the sheetmetal, the Detroit automaker's engineers redesigned the front- and rear-suspension geometries and added new parts to improve handling. In addition, a revised brake-pedal ratio and refined brake booster promises to better braking response and feel, while an all-new electro-hydraulic power steering (EHPS) system completes the package.

The 2011 Dodge Challenger Gets a 6.1 Liter SRT

How often you have to service your vehicle depends on a variety of factors. If you regularly rive during the day or night in temperatures that are below freezing (32 degrees Fahrenheit), you'll need to regularly service your vehicle. This isn't the case for Florida Jeeps and Florida Challengers, unless driven out of state.

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_FoXyvaPSnVk/TOGPgKxFjMI/AAAAAAADlBs/Zp61Hh8pZ6c/s1600/2011-Dodge-Challenger-RT_carscoop-12.jpg

So what's so special about the Challenger R/T Classic? Well, on the outside it sports heritage-inspired dual-wide body-side R/T stripes, 'Challenger' fender badging in classic script, 20-inch polished-chrome heritage alloy wheels with all-season performance tires, classic egg-crate grille with a heritage 'R/T' badge, body-color rear spoiler and a chromed fuel-filler door.

Dodge Challenger SRT8 : 1000hp speed test

The Dodge Challenger SRT8 CULT Motorsport has built about a year, but given its public debut at this year's SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Threatening is the word that best defines him. If this muscle car is already very rough number, imagine a black paint and a body kit widebody widened to the absolute limits.

The tires have at least 22 inches and are wrapped in almost invisible profile tires. The brake system that lives in the wheels is higher than standard, would make sense. The menacing touch clearly puts the optics, surrounded by red LEDs, which creature from Hell. The Fog receive the same treatment, and the result is a menacing look, bloodshot and very aggressive.

2009-dodge-challenger-srt8-side.jpg 2008-dodge-challenger-srt8-side.jpg

Since the Challenger has received a very special motor preparation, as can be seen consisting of a huge inlet and compressor, protruding from the bonnet-style hot-rod. Technical data are unknown, but since it is an SRT8, carries a 6.1 V8 HEMI engine that delivers the power I doubt standard. In fact, it is rumored by some U.S. forums that their real power actually round figures close to 1,000 hp.

The top option for the 2011 Dodge Durango was a 5.7 liter eight cylinder Hemi. The Hemi V8 generated a powerful 335 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 370 pound feet of torque at 3,600 rpm. This was as powerful as any other in similar vehicles.

Summing Up Dodge

We were happy to find out that Dodge released a hybrid for 2009, the Dodge Durango and they call this a truck and it isn't a truck. It's an SUV, but they say no, it's a truck-whatever!

Dodge Ram Trucks will always be in the forefront when it comes to the fight over which truck is better, a Dodge or a Chevy?

The Dodge Truck line-up is hard to beat , and when you pick the model that suits your needs, don't forget to buy that Dodge extended warranty, because like we said, unless you have a Hemi engine, this American car maker only gives you 3 years, 36,000 miles on their warranty and an extended warranty can be gold for these trucks.

The Next Dodge-Durango

Next Dodge-Durango Come

The next one which came as an upgrade in some of the trim levels, was a 4.7 liter Power Tech V8. This eight cylinder engine produces an impressive 303 horsepower at 5,650 rpm and 330 pound feet of torque at 3,950 rpm. To save money on fuel, a flex-fuel Power Tech V8 can be purchased. This takes alternative fuel options, but reduces horsepower to 235 at 4,500 rpm.

2011 Dodge Dakota Extended Cab - The Worst

While some consumers may like the Dodge Dakota, the experts say this truck is only "adequate."

They came out with 18 models on the Dakota in the last few years and we guess Dodge thinks by giving this truck fancy names, maybe it will attract more buyers. The models range from the ST to the BigHorn to the LoneStar to the Laramie and come with everything from the 3.7 liter, 6 cylinder engine to their 4.7 liter, 8 cylinder engine.

Depending on the model you can get these trucks in rear-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive and they range in price of $21,000 to $29,000.

It has no real unique features and this reviewer (a woman) hates to say this but Dodge promotes this vehicle as a "ladies" truck-whatever that means?

2011 New Dodge Challenger

A very hot topic & popular question is what changes 2011 will bring to the Dodge Challenger. For the most part the styling of the car will be the same save for a few cosmetic changes:
New Front Fascia (lower grill area is flipped upside down)
New Door Handles
Dual rear Exhaust (all models)
Redesigned front air dam (SRT)

2011 New Dodge Challenger

The Dodge Challenger began its quick reign of power in the early 70's and had a four year run and then was put on hold for another four years that was followed up by five more years and then, gone. Until the third generation challenger emerged with full force in 2008. The debut of this long lost beast was Feb. 6, 2008. And yes it does come with a Hemi. Dodge/Chrysler did not hold back when recreating this animal. The first third year generation model was an SRT8 6.1 L Hemi V8 which came in the Hemi orange. The 2010 models will not be available in the Hemi orange but will be introducing the Plum Crazy and the Detonator Yellow. Regardless of what model you choose they all can be pushed to an even higher limit than Chrysler/Dodge had originally planned. One of the most popular upgrades whether you are a car enthusiast or not are Dodge Challenger Performance Exhaust systems.

Pentastar V6 to Find its Way Into 13 Models Across the Chrysler Group Range, Including 2011 Challenger

The Chrysler Group's new Pentastar V6 gasoline engine will either replace current six-cylinder units or be introduced for the first time on a total of 13 vehicles across the Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep range by 2013, the company announced this week.

The 3.6-liter V6 unit will be offered with different levels of output, the most powerful [for now] iteration being the one fitted on the upcoming 2011 Dodge Challenger, which will be rated at 305 bhp at 6,350 rpm and 268 lb.ft. at 4,800 rpm, representing a 55 horsepower increase over the previous 3.5-liter V6.

On the new Jeep Grand Cherokee, the Pentastar V6 produces 290HP, while on the forthcoming 2011 Dodge Avenger, and Chrysler 200 sedan and Town & Country minivan, it will deliver 283HP. The soon-to-be-launched 2011 Dodge Charger will feature a 292-horsepower variant of the 3.6-liter V6. Other models to get the Pentastar V6 include the new Dodge Durango and Journey.

According to Chrysler, the new Pentastar V6 is not only more and fuel efficient than the six-cylinder engines it replaces, but is also significantly lighter. For example, the new 3.6L V6 is 94 lbs. lighter than the 3.7-liter engine it replaced in Jeep Grand Cherokee and 42 lbs. less than the 3.5-liter it replaces on the Chrysler 300.

"The Pentastar engine is suited to meet the requirements for a full range of vehicle applications in terms of power and fuel efficiency (average savings up to 7 percent across the model range) including passenger cars, mini-vans and sport utilities," said Bob Lee, vice president of engine engineering for Chrysler Group LLC.

"It has been designed for today and many years to come. Already, we are looking forward to adapting future technologies as they become available to the Pentastar V-6 for even more fuel efficiency and performance."
